Bourjois Rouge Edition Shine Lipstick Grenade In

A couple of days ago, I was watching a video from Holly (misshollyberries, YT and blog) and she was wearing such a gorgeous shade of lipstick. I immediately wanted it, I needed it, I couldn't live without it! She told me it was Bourjois Rouge Edition in Fraises remix, so of course I went straight to the store to get it!

When I looked at it in the store, I was just as in love with the color. It really was beautiful. I always try it, if possible. And a good thing I did, because when I looked in the mirror... HORROR!!! I could have joined the zombies on The Walking Dead... Totally not my color.

I was extremely bummed, because I had my heart set on that lipstick. Of course I tried a few others, because I came all this way for a lipstick and I wasn't leaving the store without one!

Bourjois Rouge Edition Shine in Grenade In is a deep fuchsia color and I love it!

As soon as I saw this beauty, I knew it was a perfect color for me.
It feels really light on the lips, gives a good amount of color, but still has a sheer look to it. This makes it perfect for summer.

Apparently the color of the tube means it will look great with a specific color nail polish, the yellow tube (like mine) corresponds with Sunny Sunday :D
I don't own that one and I'm not planning to get it anytime soon, but it's just your typical yellow cream, so I think China Glaze Happy go Lucky will do just as well.

Have you ever fallen in love with a lipstick because you love the way it looked on somebody else? Always such a bummer I can't get away with a lot of light colors, I'm just to pale...

July beauty and other stuff favorites

I watch a lot of Youtube video's and one of my favorite things to watch is a favorites video :D So I thought, since I don't do video's, why not make a blogpost with all my July favorites!

This will be my make up and other stuff favorites, I will do a seperate nail polish favorites because if I include those in this post, it would be a mile long...

So here goes!

First is my Urban Decay Naked Palette. I only recently jumped on the Naked band wagon, but I'm kicking myself for waiting this long! This palette, I'm sure I don't have to tell you, is AWESOME!!! I absolutely love it and have used it pretty much every single day since I bought it a few months ago. Most of the time I use it for a complete eye look, but I also use the darker shades as an eye liner with other shadows a lot. I have nothing bad to say about it, the only thing I can think of is that now I want the Naked 2 too!

To make sure my eyeshadow stays all day, I've recently started using Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I ran out of the sample size UD Primer Potion that came with my Naked palette and since Sephora decided to close shop over here, I had to resort to eBay for a replacement. I decided to give Too Faced a go so I could compare it to PP. I have been using it for a little over 2 weeks now and I am liking it way better than PP! It really stays all day and it doesn't accentuate my pores, if that makes any sence...

For my primer I have been loving my Catrice illuminating base. This base is nothing special, it does what it's supposed to do, it makes my skin even and makes my make up last longer. The really great thing about this base is the price: only €4,99!

A big problem with this primer though, is the smell... it smell like peaches... yes, really peaches! But it's a chemical peach scent, not a nice one. And that smell stays for quite a while. So if you can't handle your face smelling like peaches, I'd say skip this product ;)

I have been loving my Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencil in Cool Down. It's rectractable, which I love, creamy, stays all day and gives a lot of color. To top all this off, it's cheap as chips! I payed only € 1,49 for it, you can't beat that! This comes in several colors, so there's a color for everyone.

For my lips I've been loving several products. As my everyday lipbalm I've been using the Nivea Lip Butter in Raspberry Rose. A creamy lip butter that smells like raspberry's.

When I want a neutral color on my lips, I've been gravitating towards MAC Graving. A deep plum color. Yes, this is a neutral color for me, nude shades just make me look sick... I love the Mac lipsticks, they feel really nice on the lips, give a good amount of color and are long lasting.

On the days that I wanted a lot of color, I've been grabbing my Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids in Shocking Coral. Unfortunately, the vivid shades aren't sold in the Netherlands, but I was lucky enough to grab this one while I was on holiday in France. It's, as the name says, a schoking coral color, that leans a lot to the pink side.

I did hear a rumor that the Vivids will be available in The Netherlands as of August, in 4 shades. So Jeeh!!! I'll definitely be picking up more of these. They feel nice and soft on the lips and stay put really well, although they do transfer like nobody's business.

For my skin care products, I've been loving 2 products. The Bioderma Crealine H2O  has done wonders for my skin. It looks and feels like regular water, but it has made a huge difference. I haven't broken out since using this at all! I love it! This product is also not available in stores here, but I also snatched this one on vacation. I bought 2 big 500ml bottles, so I'm set for a year or so, lol.

The other skin care product I'm loving this month, is Hope in a jar for dry skin by Philosophy. I've been looking for a good day cream for a long, long time, but couldn't find one that I was completely happy with. Usually I was able to use a product for about 2 months and be really  happy about it, but after that it just didn't work anymore or it started to break me out.
This one doesn't seem to do that, but I've only just passed the 2 month mark, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will continue to work for me.

In the summer months my skin tends to get extra dry, so I always make sure to have a nice body lotion or butter at hand. A couple of months ago, I went a little crazy in the 50% off sale at The Body Shop. One of my purchases is the body butter I'm currently using and I absolutely love the scent of it. I am a huge fan of the body butters from The Body Shop in general, but this particular scent is my favorite. Unfortunatelly, it will be discontinued very soon... The Body Shop Sweet Lemon body Butter.

And last for the beauty products, but certainly not least, Lush R&B!
I LOVE this product! It's a hair moisturiser and it makes my hair perfect! Super soft, shiny, non frizzy... I can't rave about this product enough! I received a sample size when I bought shampoo at Lush and I fell head over heels! I finished the sample last week and almost cried, because now I have to go out and buy a full size version and that will set me back € 21 for 100ml... This sounds expensive and it kinda is, but the sample was tiny and it lasted me the better part of a month, so the full size should last me at least six months. And the way it makes my hair look and feel, I think it's more than worth it!

My book favorite this month is Pride & Prejudice & Zombies. I can hear you thinking "Huh? Zombies?" Yep, Zombies! It's a twist on the classic Jane Austen novel Pride and Prejudice. The author included zombies in the story and I love it! I am a huge fan of classic English literature and Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorites. I think I've read it about 20 times and still can't get enough. To read the story I love so much with a zombie twist is just awesome! Elizabeth and mr. Darcy totally kick ass!

That's all for this month :D
What are your favorite products?

OPI Vodka & Caviar

I realise I just did a blog post about a red polish, but if you've read my post about my highly sought after polishes (click here to read), you will know I hunted this polish down like a mad woman! So when it finally arrived on my doorstep, I couldn't control myself, this had to be painted asap!

OPI Vodka & Caviar is a true bright red crelly polish. Not quite a jelly, not quite a cream. It's the perfect middle ground of the two, but leaning more towards a jelly.

It's a classic and very popular OPI polish and now I own it, I finally completely understand why. It's just so classy and sophisticated! I think red is my favorite nail polish color, it's appropriate for every occasion and goes with every outfit. It's definitely my go to color :D

The formula on this polish was an little on the thin side. I had to paint my nails carefully to avoid flooding my cuticles. It dried really fast and was opague in 2 -3 thin coats.
The finish is amazing! So shiny, it didn't really need a top coat, but I always do to make my manicure last longer. Normally OPI tends to chip on me in about 3 days (which is still not too bad... ), but I've had this on my nails for 4 days and I don't even have any tipwear! I am LOVING this polish!

3 thin coats, 1 coat SV
On the cap it says this polish has an exclusive ProWide Brush and it does seem to be a little different than the regular OPI brush. It's not wider, but the bristles look like they are a bit longer than the ones on a regular brush. I have to admint, I didn't notice a difference in comparison to the regular brush.

The only really bad and disappointing fact about this polish: it has been discontinued by OPI...

OPI The color of Minnie

I love a red nail. I think you just can't go wrong with a classic, vampy, sexy red nail.
My husband loves red on me, in his words "If it ain't red, it ain't nail polish!"

When I first saw the Vintage Minnie Collection OPI was releasing last year, I squealed. I wanted all te colors! They were just so cute! The only one I wasn't sure of, was OPI The Color of Minnie.

It just looked like nothing special to me, I had seen so many reds like that before.
But since I was ordering all the other polishes, I thought I might as well order the complete collection.

And am I glad I did!
It's a bright red cream, nothing special, but wat does make it special, is the pink shimmer in it. Unfortunately, you don't really see this on the nail, unless the light hits it in just the right way...

The formula of this polish is briljant! It's almost a one coater, but I always do 2 and it does make it a lot better in my opinion. The dry time was fine, not extremely fast or slow and this didn't chip on me.

2 coats, 1 coat SV and a decal

I added a water decal, just for fun.
These water decals are fun, easy and cheap. I got several designs from Dashica.

Just a little warning: this polish does stain like crazy, so be sure to wear a good base coat if you don't want to end up with red nails.

Nicole by OPI My sleigh is in the shop

I had my eye on this polish for quite some time, but NBO isn't sold in The Netherlands and they were relatively expensive via eBay, so no luck for me...

That is, untill a friend found a seller that had very reasonable shipping costs. Starting with 9 polishes that is... of course this was no problem and the order was placed.

One of the polishes I ordered (I only got 3, very modest for me :D) was NBO My sleigh is in the shop a jam-packed purple glitter.

I think this has a clear base, but it's just so dense, I can't really tell. Because of this, it's also incredibly opaque, 2 coats is all you need! (I did 3 because I was a little clumsy). Another big plus in my book is the fact that I only needed one coat of SV to smooth this polish out. The formula was spot on, not to thick at all and it dried very quickly, like most glitters. Overall, a really nice polish.

2 coats with 1 coat SV
The only negative I have with this polish is that it chipped on day 2, which is very fast for me.
But that's all. I love the color, love the finish, it's just so sparkly!
(I always think of Twilight when I use the word sparkly... I just hear Edward saying in a girly voice: "Look at me!!! I'm pwetty, I spwarkle!!!"
Obviously I'm not a huge Twilight fan... anyway... moving on...)

I would definitely recommend this polish, it's a stunner!

Girly Bits Smurf Dance

This little beauty almost didn't make it to my stash!
When I first saw it, I smiled because of the name, I always call my friend Kelly Smurf because she is so tiny (but has a HUGE personality to compensate :D ), but the color didn't do it for me...

Several of my friends bought it and really liked it, but I wasn't convinced.
It looked... grey and boring...  yes, really, I said it, boring!

Until I saw a picture of it swatched over Essie Lapiz of Luxury... It just looked stunning! I had to have it!
By that time Llarowe was, of course, sold out of this polish and I had to stalk the restocks, kick some ass to make sure I wasn't car jacked, but I finally got my  hands on it.

Girly Bits - Smurf Dance is a crap ton of blue and white glitter in all shapes and sizes an to top it of, a nice amount of holo micro glitter in a clear base.

The formula... oh boy... normally you have to resort to the dabbing method with polish with this much glitter, especially if the majority is chunky glitter, but not with this beauty! Excelent glitter pay of, perfect formula and the dry time was really fast.

Since this is glitter in a clear base, you do need a polish underneath to bring out the best. I used 2 coats of Essie Lapiz of Luxury.

2 coats Lapiz, 2 coats Smurf, 1 coat SV
I'm in love with this polish and have tried it over several other polishes.
I thought it couldn't get better after I layered it over Lapiz, but boy, was I wrong!
Look at this mind blowingly gorgeous combination using A England Order of the Garther (I will post a review of Order later on my blog)

2 coats as an accent over 2 coats of A England Order
I do recommend you layer this over a bright blue to get the best result, it can look a bit grey and dull over other colors. But if you like that look, go for it!

I think this polish is no longer available, but I'm not 100% sure. I do know that Llarowe has a lot of other Girly Bits polishes that are equally as good! I would recommend Rogue, Purple Potion, Razzle Dazzle and Hot Toddy. Me, I'm still lusting after Erin go Bragh-less and Face the Music. They're so pretty!

My highly sought after must have HTF polishes

Sometimes you have a polish that is very hard to find, because everybody wants it, it's from an old collection or it has been taken out of production.
I have a few in my stash, that I paid good money for to own and those are my most cherished polishes.

They all have a different story as to why I moved heaven and earth to get them, but somehow they are all OPI polishes...
Some because of the color, some because of the name and others because I feel an emotional attachment to them. Yes... I get emotional about my polishes... sue me! Lol!

The first HTF polish I hunted for and finally bought is OPI - Smitten with Mittens.

I totally blame youtuber and blogger Yukie (warmvanillasugar0823 on youtube, yukieloves.com) for this one.
Allthough she has no idea who I am, she is the reason I bought this polish.
I was watching her favorite red polishvideo on YT, and she stated that Smitten is her all time favorite red and showed the bottle and a swatch. I immediately fell in love with it and just had to have it!!!
I searched eBay like a mad woman to get this polish for a reasonable price and finally succeeded :D

The minute I painted my nails with this polish, I knew wat Yukie was talking about. It's just so beautifull! It blew me away!
Deep red with golden shimmer (or is it microglitter, I never know with this one...), it's stunning!!!
It handles like a dream, 2 coats and its opaque, perfect consistency and it dries fast.

This polish has quickly become my go to polish, but recently I haven't painted my nails with it, because I'm hoarding it, afraid I'll run out...

The next polish took me about a year and a half to get, not because it was extremely hard to find or expensive, but I ordered a bottle and that never arrived on my doorstep...
The seller kept saying it was in the mail, but couldn't provide a tracking number or receipt that it was mailed. After 8 weeks, the seller stopt responding to my messages and there was nothing I could do...

It just didn't feel right to pay money for this polish AGAIN, but I did keep looking at it on eBay and finally just bit the bullet and ordered it again. I was over the moon when it finally arrived!!!

OPI - I Lily love you

Look at those pink based flakies in all colors of the rainbow, how can you resist?

OPI - Fiercly Fiona

This a bit of a different story, not quite hunted down, but since it took about 3 months to get to me AND it isn't widely available, I do include it in my special polishes. ( I feel like Gollum when I call them my special polishes, I don't know how many times I had the urge to call one of them "My Precious!!!"  in a Gollum voice while writing this post... anyway... back to my topic... )

I have seen this polish a few times and always liked it. It's a murky green tinted yellow and one of those ugly pretty colors that I love. This was part of the Shrek collection in 2010, but unfortunatelly, I couldn't get my hands on any of the colors... I'm still hunting down What's with the Cattitude, although the color is totally dupable.

When I was placing an order at nailsupplies.us, (actually, a friend of mine was placing an order and I was planning on just ordering 1 or 2 and ended up ordering 4 or 5, lol) I suddenly saw they had Fiona available! I was over the moon and ordered it straight away :D

My friend was just as lucky and ordered Funky Dunkey, so score for us!!!

Normally we have no issues with delivery form NS, but this time the package got lost, we waited, emaild, waited, emailed and waited some more...
After about 2 months NS declared the package a gonner and resend our order. 3 months after ordering this beauty, I could finally hold her in my hands and it was love at first sight.

OPI - Mrs. O'Leary's BBQ
It's not just the pretty color of this polish, but also the name... I just can't stop myself from smilling everytime I hear this name. For those of you who don't know: Mrs. O'Leary is said to be responsible for the great Chicago fire, so to name a polish Mrs. O'Leary's BBQ is just very funny to me.

I wanted this beauty for a long time, it's just the perfect deep, dark, burgundy color for me. But I didn't feel like paying an abscene amount of money for it. So I kept an eye on eBay and waited and waited and waited...

Finally, when I was on holiday, a friend of mine send me a text with an eBay link in it. It was Mrs. O'Leary, for a reasonable price!!!
Of course I snatched it up immediately and when it arrived on my doorstep, it was everyting I expected it to be and more!

The formula is a bit... weird... it's a little patchy and I stil had a bald spot after 2 coats. Not what I'm used to with an OPI cream, but hey, who cares?

This next polish may not be the most unique color, I have no doubt I actually allready own a dupe for it since I have a lot of red polishes, but I just couldn't get this one out of my mind...

OPI - Vodka and Caviar is a true red crelly, not quite a jelly, not quite a cream,  it's just the perfect combination of the two.
I hunted this one down like a mad woman, but couldn't find it... it was (and still is) available on eBay, but with shipping costs it would have cost me a fortune.

Luckily I have a very good friend who knows me and my taste in polish very well and she let me know it was available on a dutch site. I send an email to the seller, included another polish for myself (OPI Suzi loves Sydney, didn't have a clue about the color, but got all emotional about the name since I spend a year in Australia and would mover there immediately if I had the chance. Turned out to be absolutely stunning! Lucky me!) and one for my friend (yes, the same one who was responsible for my BBQ purchase) and snatched it up.

Isn't it gorgeous?

I love the OPI Suede finish, but they are very hard to find for a good price and in good condition.
Luckily I have a lot of friends who are nail polish junkies, just like me :D

This beauty I actually bought from one of them because she decided she just had to big a stash... whut??? That's just not possible... but hey, I'm not complaining as I was able to get my hands on
OPI - Suzy skis in the Pyrenees Suede dirt cheap.
This is a black/silver polish with a suede finish. It is a true one coater and dries in seconds! If I'm in a hurry and need an instantly dry polish, I'll go for this one.

I was lucky enough to be able to get my hands on these polishes, but I still have a few on my lemming list that I would love to get my hands on!

Zoya - Veruschka
OPI - the rest of the suedes
OPI - Absolutely Alice (I can't stop drooling over this polish, it might be my all time favorite polish and I don't even own it)
China Glaze - the OMG collection (I own one, OMG, thanks to the Suzi friend)
OPI - Vampire State Building
OPI - Who the Shrek are you (I know there are dupes for this one, like Did it on 'em, but I just really want the Shrek one)
And just a couple more :D

Butter London Henley Regatta

I was so excited for this polish!!! My first (and only) Butter London polish!!!
When I opened the package and took the bubble wrap of, I squeled. It's just simply stunning! I'm such a patient person, so of course I immediately took of my polish and painted this on my nails.

Hmmm... 4 coats and still not opaque... Let's try this again...
This time I painted my nails with 2 coats of China Glaze Turned up Turquoise and topped it with 2 coats of Butter London Henley Regatta.

The formula was perfect and the brush is very nice! Henley is a turquoise micro glitter in a clear base, so this will never be opaque on it's own, but two coats over another polish is plenty. You could even get away with just one, but I like two better.

It was just simply stunning! I couldn't take my eyes of it and the next morning my collegues at work were all drooling over my nails. This picture does not do it justice. It's more sparkly, more alive in real live.

2 coats TuT, 2 coats Henley Regatta, 1 coat SV
I wore this polish proudly and was looking forward to taking beautifull pictures in the sunlight when I got home after work. Untill I noticed someting... I was stunned... this never happens to me...

A CHIP!!!

Ok, no big deal, this happens a lot aparently, just never to me. I can wear a polish for at least 3 days without chips and I have been know to rock the same polish for 2 weeks with just a bit of tipwear.
To give you an idea, visual proof:

Day 8 of wearing China Glaze Ruby Pumps

I got over it, sighed and went back to work (I work in an office, so no major impact on my nails). About 15 minutes later, I glanced at my nails, and was shocked again!

ANOTHER CHIP!!!
And a big one too!!! Wat is happening to my nails?

Unfortunately, the horror didn't stop...

I couldn't seem to keep this polish on my nails! After about 3 hours, I only had polish on my middle finger left... Even though I absolutely love the color and it applies like a dream, I'm not happy with this polish and I won't be wearing it a lot...
I will be trying it again with a different polish underneath, especially because it's a very expensive polish, but you can imagine this is nog a good start for me and Butter London...

I have to admit, if this was a cheap drugtore polish, I would have tossed it.

I did wonder if it might have been a combined problem, because TuT always chips on me too... but never this fast, I'm usually able to wear that for at least a day before chipping and it never flakes this bad, so I'm afraid that must be Henley's fault.
But just to make sure, I'll try this with a different polish underneath.
